Head and neck cancer ranks six on the national list of most common cancers. Head and neck cancers include cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract, invasive skin cancers including melanoma, salivary glands, thyroid and soft tissues. The majority are of the aerodigestive tract (UAED) which are cancers effecting the lips, mouth, throat, larynx, upper esophagus, nose and paranasal sinuses. Perhaps one of the reasons battling these cancers is more difficult to the patient is due to the fact this type of cancer involves the most visible part of the body and can often effect their appearance.
